Dorothy Mahoney (nee Bishop) (1902-1984)

Elected to Craft Membership in 1927.

Henry James Manwaring (1881-1960)

Elected to Craft Membership in 1921.

Served as Hon. Secretary: 1936-1937

Henry James Manwaring, studied at the Central School of Arts & Crafts (possibly under Graily Hewitt but not confirmed); for many years he worked as a full-time freelance calligrapher from his studio in Charlotte Street, London W1, before relocating to his home; carried out a large number of commercial commissions for department stores Marshall & Snelgrove and Debenhams during the 30s and 40s. A very early member of the SSI, he was active in setting up the SSI's Travelling Exhibition, which lasted until the 1990s.

Elected to Craft Membership in 1948.

John Martin

Elected to Craft Membership in 1954.

Marion McKenzie (1942-)

Elected to Fellowship in 2010.

Teaches privately in the New Forest, near Southampton, and at various workshops around the UK. Administrator for the SSI's ATS programme.

Studied under: Frederick William-Smith, Mary Noble, Ewan Clayton and at Roehampton.

Harry Meadows

Elected to Craft Membership in 1977.

Janet Mehigan (1943-)

Elected to Fellowship in 1998.

Taught art at A level and GCSE level for 3 years - but not calligraphy.

Taught at: Fareham College

Studied under: Gaynor Goffe, Ann Camp, 1963.

Richard Middleton (1957-)

Elected to Fellowship in 1988.

Served as Chairman: 1999-2002

Studied at Digby Stuart College 1984 - 1988 under Ann Camp, Tom Perkins, Gerald Fleuss, Gaynor Goffe. Former ATS tutor and Roehampton Correspondence tutor. SSI Exhibition Chairman 1993 - 1998. Chairman 1999 - 2002.

Studied under: Ann Camp.

James Middleton

Elected to Craft Membership in 1958.

Miss DEG Milne

Elected to Craft Membership in 1921.

Meic Morgan-Finch

Elected to Fellowship in 1980.

Gerald Mynott

Elected to Fellowship in 1977.

Full-time heraldic artist and calligrapher, College of Arms, London, 1977-1979.
Landscape painter exhibiting with the Francis Kyle Gallery, London, 1980 to date.
Summer school lecturer at West Dean College, Sussex, Dillington House Somerset and Belsted House, Ipswich, Suffolk.

Taught at: Reigate School of Art and Design, part time lecturer, 1980-1998: Head of Department Calligraphy, Heraldic Art and Illuminating 1998 to date.

Studied under: Anthony Wood, FSSI, FRSA, 1974-1977, at Reigate, gaining Higher Surrey National Diploma (Hons) in calligrpahy, heraldic art and illumination., Gained Fine Art Diploma at Vienna Kunstlerhaus, Austria, 1979-1980..
