Re-elected 30 September 1995 and stayed in the post until 28 September 1996.

Maisie R. Sherley (1920-)

She served as a committee member for 6 years in the early 1980's. Works include: a decorative map of Ambleside: a decorative map of Tower Hill for TOC H: designed the layout for and executed the writing of all the pilots' names in Daisy Alcock's RAF Battle of Britain Book in Westminster Abbey: family trees for two families, Mentcouths and Fenmans (? Spelling, not too clear in handwritten submission): decorative family tree for Barclays Bank: commemorative panel in the Nurses' Chapel in Westminster Abbey: made all the entries in the Book of Memory in Rochester Cathedral from 1954 to 2001.

Anna Simons (1871-1951)

Anna Simons was born in Germany in 1871. She studied under Edward Johnston at the Royal College of Art in London shortly after he began teaching there in 1901, returned to Germany, and died in 1951. In 1905 she went to teach in Dusseldorf at the Kunstgewerbeschule, at the request of Peter Behrens and under a recommendation from Johnston. In 1910 she translated Johnston's Writing, Lettering and Illuminating into German, as Schriebschrift, Zierscrift und angewandte Schrift. In 1914 she transferred to the Kunstgewerbeschule in Munich and in 1918 began work for Bremer Presse. In 1921 she designed the lettering for the Bremer Presse's Diniva Commedia. In 1926 she presented her portfolio Titel und Initialen fur die Breme Presse. In 1937 she published "Edward Johnston", volume 1 in Verlag fur Schriftkunde, Heintze and + Blancketz monograph series. In the same year, Eberhard Holscher published "Anna Simons" as volume 2 in the same series. She was the guest lecturer at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich in 1941.

This was followed by full-time study at Roehampton for The Certificate in Calligraphy & Bookbinding and the BA (Hons) degree in Calligraphy & Bookbinding, graduating in 1997. Graduate of the Advanced Training Scheme. Workshops taken with Ann Hechle, Denis Brown, Julian Waters, Tom Perkins, Sam Somerville, Jilly Hazeldine, Sally Mae Joseph, Tim Noad.
