This year the theme is: ‘Small is Beautiful’. This is a show for all Lay Members, both to view and to participate in, open to all levels of ability and experience.

AGM and Open Day
15 June 2024The AGM is returning to the Art Workers’ Guild and will encompass the annual Lay Members’ Exhibition and other displays of calligraphy to inspire you.

13 March – 13 April 2024Joint Designer Bookbinders and SSI exhibition at the Crafts Council Gallery.
Almost thirty years after the major collaborative exhibition ‘Fine Words Fine Books’, which showcased the work of Designer Bookbinders and the Society of Scribes & Illuminators, the two societies are coming together again in a new exhibition of work by society Fellows. Over fifty works of contemporary bookbinding, calligraphy and lettering will be shown in the beautiful Crafts Council Gallery in London, accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue.
Gallery open from 11am – 5pm, Wednesday – Saturday. Not open Easter weekend, March 29th and 30th.

The SSI welcomes anyone who is interested in calligraphy and illumination, at whatever level. Membership gives you access to publications, use of the SSI Library and up-to-date information regarding courses and events. In addition, Lay Members can take part in their annual exhibition and Fellows have the right to exhibit their work in public SSI exhibitions.
