Cherrell Avery has worked as a lettering artist and teacher in London for over 20 years. She trained at Roehampton Institute and holds a BA Hons in calligraphy. She is a handwriting specialist for both adults and children. In the past she undertook commissions for clients including Christian Dior, Selfridges, The London Assembly and Marks & Spencers and acted as a consultant and calligrapher for film. She has worked for the British Library, Royal Academy of Art and other London institutions and community groups, engaging with the public in workshops and calligraphy demonstrations. In 2012 Cherrell was the SSI sponsored Calligrapher in Residence at V&A . She still maintains strong links with the museum and continues to be inspired by her research there, creating lettering for exhibition using metal and gold leaf.

You can contact Cherrell through her website
