The Heritage Crafts Association Spring Conference, A Place for Craft, will be held at the V&A Museum on Saturday 9 May 2015.
The theme for 2015 is A Place for Craft and the conference will highlight the relationship between crafts and location – focusing on those crafts which have developed in particular regions or locations, and why craftspeople have chosen to live and work in areas with a special tie to their craft. Speakers include HCA Patron Sir Christopher Frayling and Genevieve Sioka, artisan buyer for the National Trust; there will also be craft makers from Luton (hats), Stoke (pottery) and Somerset (baskets) talking about their crafts. It is a great chance to network, listen to fascinating talks, celebrate the best of craft with the Heritage Crafts Awards, and see the Instant Gallery craft items – Crafts in their place.
This year the conference is part of the London Craft Week programme; this inaugural festival, 6–10 May 2015, will showcase the work and expertise of craftspeople in major galleries and individual workspaces across London.
