Susan Hufton was born in 1957 and studied calligraphy at Roehampton with Ann Camp from 1977-80 and returning from 1983-1986, followed by a year learning letter drawing and carving with Tom Perkins, she has worked to commission and made both private and public works, from large panels to small manuscript books, using a variety of materials. Sue was elected as a Fellow in 1987. For six years she was one of the scribes of the Saint John’s Bible.

Sue teaches at all levels and has taught around the world and on full-time calligraphy courses at Roehampton and Sunderland Universities. She is a short course tutor at West Dean College. Her work is exhibited regularly and is included in the V&A, Fitzwilliam Museum and Crafts Study Centre collections. She writes regularly for journals and publications and her own book ’Step-by-Step Calligraphy’ (Weidenfeld & Nicholson 1991) is used by many. Her work has been exhibited most recently at the Bodleian Library, Letter Exchange exhibitions and the Lettering Arts Centre.

Some of these works are for sale, others were commissioned pieces. Please contact Sue for further details or to discuss similar commissions.
