The enduring fascination of the Renaissance scribe - Bartolomeo Sanvito’s Polychrome Epigraphic Capitals
Paul Shaw is a calligrapher, typographer, graphic designer, and design historian. He has researched and written about calligraphy, lettering and type for four decades. The Renaissance scribe, Bartolomeo Sanvito, has been one of his many areas of interest. In 1994 Paul spent a month examining over one hundred Sanvito manuscripts in libraries across Europe. Eight years later Sanvito and sculptor Andrea Bregno were the subject of his American Academy in Rome fellowship.
